Round Brilliant Cut Diamonds

Round Diamond
The modern Round Brilliant Cut Diamond was invented by Marcel Tolkowsky in 1919. It is the most popular diamond shape and is generally the brightest of all the diamonds when cut to highest specifications.
The round brilliant cut is the most popular shape of diamond because it's fiery, practical and will suit almost every finger, and of course because it's round (the most superior shape.) It's price of a round diamond is usually the highest (excluding modern patented cuts), when purchased individually (not as a pair), mainly because it is consistently popular throughout the year, unlike fancy shape diamonds which can sometimes be seasonal or drop out of fashion for a few months or years before returning back again. Round brilliant cut diamonds usually contain 57 - 58 facets with a total depth that's around 60% from the diameter for a properly proportioned diamond, however this is a textbook guide and not a rule as the total depth can also fluctuate slightly without affecting the diamond's beauty.
