Oval Shape Diamonds

Oval Diamond
The Oval Shape Diamond was invented by Lazare Kaplan in the 1960's. The oval shape diamond is the closest relative to the round brilliant cut diamond.
It is a great choice for someone looking for a brilliant sparkly diamond that is less common and more individual. They can suit ladies with a longer finger more than a round diamond. Oval diamonds vary in proportion from a slight oval (fat) to a long narrow oval. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, it comes down to personal choice - however a length to width ratio of 1.5:1 or similiar is usually a nice proportion. Many oval shape diamonds have a bow-tie affect, like with some other shapes (eg: pear shape and the marquise shape diamonds) however when it's slight to moderate it's normally acceptable. It also comes down to personal choice.
